About This Spot

Stepping into Awi's Cafe & Restaurant in the heart of Binondo feels like entering a warmly familiar corner of the neighborhood where time eases into a gentle rhythm. It’s not just a place to grab breakfast or a cup of coffee—it’s a familiar nook where the chatter hums softly and the scent of rich, brewed coffee blends seamlessly with the inviting aroma of home-cooked meals.

The atmosphere here moves at a comfortable, unhurried pace, drawing you into its cozy embrace. The room is simple yet lively, filled with the warmth of friendly smiles and attentive hands that make you feel less like a guest and more like part of a close-knit community. It’s the kind of spot where stories are shared over a steaming plate, where the familiar faces of “mommy Helen,” “Ate Flor,” and others become part of the experience, fostering a genuine sense of belonging.

What’s remarkable about Awi’s isn’t just the hearty and comforting fare, but how the flavors carry a quiet confidence. The dishes—be it the well-loved salt and pepper squid, the satisfying coffee spare ribs, or the comforting lohanchay—reveal the care put into each plate, a harmony of familiar tastes that feel lovingly crafted, not rushed. Alongside these, moments of surprise emerge in savory bites and shared specialties, each bringing a little extra warmth to the table.

Whether you’re starting your day here with a thoughtfully brewed coffee that’s more than just caffeine or lingering over a plate that reminds you of home-cooked goodness, Awi’s connects through those simple, honest moments. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, savor the company and the food, and leave a little more content than when you arrived.

Still serves one of the best cups of coffee in Binondo. I know my coffee beans. This might not be a cafe, but their coffee and the barista are top notch. Delicious food. When in doubt, ask Chinese lola to hook you up with best sellers. I particularly love their salt and pepper squid; the squid was cooked perfectly. All other dishes were delicious as well

One of the best meals I had while in Binondo. My orders were simple — shrimp fried rice and salted egg pork spare ribs. They did not scrimp on the shrimp such that the rice still had shrimp up to the last bite. They deboned the spare ribs, so I was able to eat the entire dish (no messy munching on the bone). The salted egg sauce was buttery and had the right saltiness. The service was fast (maybe because it was already way past lunch time) and the servers were attentive.

One of the reasons why we chose to stay in Binondo! It's very homey and Mommy Helen, Ate Flor and other staffs are very accommodating & friendly. We are eating here everyday while we are in Binondo for a month :) Foods are always amazing

Love the atmosphere it feels homey. The food we ordered like the coffee ribs and bird's nest are definitely an acquired taste but I love their sate beef noodles. They also have toilet for those wondering Edit: got to try their food again with some company, everything we had was so good!

Our food crawl brought us to Awi's Cafe for our 2nd stop. It was lunch time and we were hungry to we ended up eating more than we should since we only meant to sample bestsellers. The menu was extensive but there were quite a lot of these unavailable when we were there so we just asked the staff for recommendation what what was available at the time. We had the following: Crab & Corn Soup P148 Raddish Cake with Kutchay P278 Awi's Special Chicken Half 352 Yang Chow P275 Out of all we ordered, the Raddish Cake with Kutchay was unanimously the best food we had at Awi's.

Great food and service. The serving is good for 2-3 people. We originally planned to go somewhere else but glad that we gone here instead :)

Went here on a rainy lunch time and was welcomed by the crew and owner. Owner is very welcoming that she reminds me of my guama. Very affordable food and good portion size. Place is well airconditioned and clean. Just had beef mami and iced tea. Will come back for sure. Went here again a week after and ordered fish tofu rice toppings.
